Oracle Grid 11.2.0.4 upgrade to 19c

Upgrading Oracle Grid Infrastructure and Oracle Database to version 19c offers several benefits:

  1. Enhanced Performance: Oracle Database 19c introduces numerous performance enhancements, including automatic indexing, real-time statistics, and improved memory management. These improvements can lead to faster query execution and overall system performance.
  2. Improved Security: Oracle Database 19c includes advanced security features such as Data Redaction, Unified Auditing, and Privilege Analysis. These features help protect sensitive data and strengthen overall system security.
  3. Long-Term Support: Oracle 19c is a long-term support release, which means it will receive regular updates, bug fixes, and security patches for an extended period. By upgrading to 19c, you ensure that your system remains supported and can take advantage of future enhancements.
  4. Simplified Management: Oracle 19c introduces several management features to simplify administration tasks. For example, Automatic Indexing and Automatic SQL Plan Management help optimize query performance without manual intervention. Additionally, the Database Configuration Assistant (DBCA) provides an improved graphical interface for creating and managing databases.
  5. Oracle Multitenant: Oracle 19c offers enhanced features and improvements to Oracle Multitenant, which allows you to consolidate multiple databases into a single container database. This feature provides better resource utilization, simplified management, and improved scalability.
  6. Integration with Oracle Cloud: Oracle 19c is tightly integrated with Oracle Cloud services, enabling seamless migration of on-premises databases to the cloud. This integration offers benefits such as simplified data management, elastic scalability, and access to additional cloud-based features.

These are just a few of the reasons why upgrading to Oracle Grid Infrastructure and Oracle Database 19c can be beneficial. However, it’s important to thoroughly assess your specific requirements and consult Oracle’s official documentation and support resources before proceeding with the upgrade.

You cannot upgrade Oracle Grid from version 11.2.0.4 to directly 19c.  you need to upgrade grid from 11.2.0.4 to 12.1.0.2 or 12.2.0.1 first.

However, 11.2.0.4 database can be directly upgraded to 19c, you need to apply patches first.
